Emporia State FCU CEO Angie Miller and Marketing Manager Susie LeGault.
Board President Brent Windsor presented a 2014 Friend of Education Award Wednesday night to the staff of Emporia State Federal Credit Union.
The business was nominated by the Emporia Public Schools in the category of Business Partner.
The Friends of Education Awards program is sponsored by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. The purpose of the program is to recognize those within the community who have made outstanding contributions to public education.
The program allows districts to recognize business partners, volunteers, community leaders, public institutions and civic organizations for their support of education in the community.
ESFCU is a long-time supporter and partner of the Emporia Public Schools. Executive Director Angie Miller and her staff worked with Emporia High School to open a branch bank in the Spartan Saver store, which is operated by students in the Money Matters class.
The credit union also placed an ATM at the school for the convenience of students and guests at EHS events.
ESFCU also gives annual scholarships to EHS graduates, provides tours and money-management lessons to students, and sponsors the annual American Education Week celebration in the district.
