This week, credit union advocates from around Kansas will be in Washington DC for our 2013 Hike the Hill. During our visits to Capitol Hill on Wednesday, we will be urging Congress "Don't Tax My Credit Union!"
Credit unions in Kansas can join advocacy efforts on Wednesday by participating in our "National Online Rally," scheduled for October 2nd. The physical rally will take place at Credit Union House in Washington DC between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. KCUA Hike the Hill attendees will be attending the physical rally.
The event will be hosted by Paul Barry, an award winning journalist and radio and television personality in the Washington DC area, who many of you know from the CUNA Government Affairs Conference. The rally will also feature appearances by a number of CUNA staff, outside experts and coalition partners, League and credit union leaders, and credit union members from across the country. Speakers will participate in person at Credit Union House, via recorded video, and remotely using video conferencing.
The principal focus of the rally will be to encourage credit union advocates to contact Congress via email and social media - and to ask that Congress "Tweet us back" statements of support for the credit union tax exemption. The "Tweet Congress" link on www.DontTaxMyCreditUnion.org will feature pre-loaded messages to that effect.
There are several ways your credit union can participate in the Don't Tax My Credit Union rally:
Log in and use social media to spread the word and tweet photos and videos of "watch parties" (remember to use the hashtags #CUrally and #DontTaxMyCU)
Wear DTMCU t-shirts at your credit union locations
