Meritrust Credit Union is proud to announce plans to build a new branch located at the Lakeside at the Moorings development, a commercial mixed-use property near North Meridian and K-96 in Wichita, Kan. The property was previously owned by CBB North Lakes, LLC, and held in trust by the Bachman family.

“We are very excited to welcome Meritrust Credit Union to Lakeside at the Moorings neighborhood! Meritrust is a great beginning to this new development and we look forward to other successful businesses moving into this area,” says Kurt Bachman, owner of Bachman Realty.

CBB North Lakes, LLC, was started in 1978 by Bachman’s father, C. Bill Bachman. The area includes approximately 400 homes in The Moorings development and another 160 in Harbor Isle development, with a highly desirable demographic of professionals, executives and business owners enjoying a lakefront lifestyle convenient to all areas of Wichita via the I-235/K-96 corridor.

The real estate transaction was brokered by Kris Wessel from NAI Martens and Marlin Penner from John T. Arnold Associates Commercial Development Real Estate.

“The transaction was seamless, thanks to both Kris Wessel and Marlin Penner,“ says Mahlon McCaleb, Meritrust’s CFO.

The state-of-the-art Meritrust branch will replace an existing branch located in the Twin Lakes area and will be the first in Wichita to be built using a new prototype design mirroring the location currently under construction in Manhattan, Kan. The open and accessible interior includes visual merchandising as well as engaging retail graphics to optimize the member experience with branch employees.

Members will find a full complement of retail, commercial lending, mortgage lending and wealth management services as well as teller and ATM drive-thru service at the new location. The new building will also incorporate several elements that reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, with energy-efficient building materials.

Construction on the new branch is expected to begin in late May. Once the location is complete in the fall, Meritrust will consolidate the existing Twin Lakes location into the new location.

“We are excited to replace the existing Twin Lakes location and provide our members with a positive full- service banking experience,” says James Nastars, Meritrust’s president and chief executive officer. “We’re proud to continue our commitment to and investment in Wichita and look forward to being a part of this community for years to come.”

Meritrust currently has 11 branches in the Wichita-metro area, two in Lawrence, one in Junction City and one under construction in Manhattan, Kan.
