Our Electronic Communication Is Changing

In 2012, the average worker received 147 emails messages per day, and spent 28% of their workday on email alone. And those numbers continue to rise.

Let us reduce that number for you. In the next few months, you will see changes in our email communication. Emails may look different and contain slightly different content. They will be cleaner and simpler. Some will arrive on the same day each week. And you can choose which ones you want to receive.

Here’s what you can expect:

Training emails | sent on Wednesdays, starting November 6
This is probably the biggest change. Our current process is to send one email per training opportunity. For example, if there were three Lending training sessions this week (a face to face seminar, a webinar and a quickbite) those would be sent in three separate emails. Our new system will combine those into one Lending training email per week.

This process will be put into place for all our education and training "topical” emails:

  • Board/Volunteer
  • Compliance
  • Human Resources
  • Lending
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Operations/Front Line
  • Training Digest: For those who don’t want one email per topic, a weekly digest encompassing all training opportunities for a particular week is available. Some of you may already be subscribing to this digest.


Political Monitor | Mondays, once a week or bi-weekly, depending on the Legislative session
Our Political Monitor will stay relatively the same, arriving on Mondays and keeping you up to date on what is happening in Topeka and Washington, D.C.

Compliance Update | 1st and 3rd Tuesdays
This is an added bonus for those signed up to receive Compliance training emails. This email will keep you up to date on looming deadlines, changes in compliance and general Compliance news.

Products & Services | 2nd & 4th Tuesdays
Keep up to date on the latest and greatest products and services from KCUA as well as CUNA Mutual Group and CSS providers.

Special Promotions | Thursdays, as needed
These emails may change in content, and will be targeted to the appropriate email list. Special promotions could include a large face- to-face event (like our annual meeting, Compliance School, Regional Compliance Updates, as well as joint events with other leagues), information about new initiatives, Make a Difference events, golf tournaments, etc.

Vision | Friday, weekly
Vision will become a weekly publication with news and information that is important to your credit union. Content could include national news from CUNA, as well as local news from KCUA and our credit unions.

Other publications, as needed
There will be times when alerts (like a scam alert or governmental affairs action alert) need to be sent, or a note from our President and CEO. Those will be sent to the appropriate lists, and on an as-needed basis.



Managing your email preferences


New feature: You now have the ability to see what emails you are receiving from KCUA. Simply log in to our website and visit your profile home page. (go to PROFILE à Profile Home).

Your email subscriptions are listed under the additional information section. Although there is an EDIT button located just above this section, you will not be able to edit your preferences there, you must use our electronic communications preference form.

On the electronic communication preference form, there is a list and description of available email publications. Use the form on the page to choose the emails you would like to receive, or use the text field to tell us which lists you would like to be removed from.

We send our credit unions lots of information. We hope this will reduce some of your email clutter, and provide an easier platform for digesting news and information.
