WICHITA, KAN. — Meritrust is inviting members and employees to be a part of its Numana food-packaging event on Saturday, October 12. The meal assembly will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.
At this event, volunteer teams will work together to measure, weigh, seal, box and prepare for shipment meals to fight world hunger. Numana is an international hunger relief organization that has packaged more than 27 million meals from coast to coast with the help of more than 170,000 volunteers. This local organization started in El Dorado, Kan., in 2008.
Meritrust’s food-packaging event will be held in conjunction with International Credit Union Day (October 17), the Credit Union National Association’s celebration of credit unions and their ability to improve the communities in which they are located. This year’s theme – Credit Unions Unite for Good – helps leverage the credit union initiative of working together to better the lives of individuals, families, communities and countries around the world.
"As a credit union, community is of the highest importance to us,” said James Nastars, Meritrust President and CEO. "We are grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with our coworkers, friends and members for such a deserving organization. It really is our goal to unite for good.”
