Credit Union of America Awards $8,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

The following students were awarded scholarship funds from Credit Union of America’s John Michener Scholarship program for the 2013-2014 school year:

  • Carl Appelman-University of Kansas ($1,000)
  • Shaughnessy Stockemer- Newman ($1,000)
  • Andrew McCoskey- Wichita North High ($1,000)
  • Greg Gietzen-Bishop Carroll ($1,000)
  • Audrey Garrett- Wichita State University ($1,000)
  • John McCune- Valley Center High ($500)
  • Gina Bogner- Washburn University ($500)
  • Whitney Long- Campus High ($500)
  • Chelsea Grosch-Wichita State University ($500)
  • Asaria T.S. Usher- Northeast Magnet ($500)
  • Matthew Zemanick- Bishop Carroll High ($500)

Out of the 35 qualifying applications, 11 students were chosen by a scholarship committee, made up of staff and volunteers.

Winners were chosen based on their grade point average, community/school activities and an essay on teaching young adults about financial literacy.
