McCoy-Porter Scholarship winner Madison Herrig accepts her award from Frontier Community CU President Bill Hauber at the credit union’s 60th Annual Meeting, held Thursday, March 21.
Leavenworth, KS – It was an evening to celebrate new beginnings as Frontier Community Credit Union held its annual meeting on Thursday, March 21. Not only did the credit union membership vote Judy Guenther and Ron Harrod to new terms on the board of directors, but it also awarded the McCoy-Porter Scholarship to Leavenworth High School senior Madison Herrig.
For Herrig, daughter of Steven and Patricia Herrig, the $1,000 scholarship will assist with tuition costs when she enrolls at the University of Kansas this fall. Herrig will pursue a course of study that supports her desire to work with children who have special needs.
Guenther and Harrod look forward to the year to come as they each renewed their commitment to the Frontier Community CU Board of Directors for a three-year term. Guenther has an extensive background in the financial sector – both as a staff member and a volunteer – and will build on her 17 years of service on credit union boards. Harrod will add to his 21 years of service to the Frontier Community CU board with this appointment, and continues his involvement in Kansas credit union leadership.
"This is the credit union difference at work,” said Frontier Community CU President Bill Hauber. "Our volunteers guide our financial cooperative, and their leadership makes it possible to give back to the community through programs like the McCoy-Porter Scholarship. The events of our Annual Meeting are a great way to kick off the year to come.”
