As a young credit union professional or someone new to the credit union industry, you might have thought the following at some point:

  • "It seems like these sorts of legislative things are better left to senior management—I’ve only got X years at the credit union.”
  • "Legislative things don’t impact my job at the credit union.  Plus I’m not politically active and don’t know the first thing about politics.”

The things that go on in Topeka and Washington DC have a BIG impact on your credit union and its members. While the legislative process can seem intimidating, advocacy is an incredibly important function of the credit union movement.  However, it doesn’t have to be a difficult one. It can be as simple as telling your story, speaking from your own experience and sharing the facts.

KCUA invites you to gain a better understanding of credit union advocacy and how the legislative process works at our CUnext Advocacy Day.

Don’t worry—we won’t be asking you to testify before a committee or get into tough questions about credit union regulations.  This experience will give you the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and how KCUA governmental affairs work on behalf of credit unions.   You can take all you’ve learned and apply it at our industry’s banner advocacy event—the Credit Union Day at the Capitol on February 11, 2014.

Due to the intimate nature of this educational opportunity, numbers are limited to 15 attendees and registrations, along with legislator information, need to be received by Monday, January 20, 2014.

There is no cost to attend. This event is being brought to you by your Kansas Credit Union Association.
