In addition to KCUA’s complete Compliance and Consulting department, we are offering another resource to our member credit unions. • January 17: CFPB Mortgage Complaint System is Up and Running
  

  The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently announced that its system for accepting, forwarding and following up on consumer mortgage complaints has been activated and can be accessed.

• December 1: Compliance Q & A
  

  Questions regarding Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and unauthorized debit card transactions.

• November 15: “FinCEN” Comment Period for E-Filing Proposal Coming to a Close
  

  Financial Crimes Enforcement Network's (FinCEN) current proposal will require the electronic filing of BSA reports no later than June 30, 2012. 

• November 15: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Seeks Help to Simplify Mortgage Closing Documents
  

  The CFPB is asking for public feedback on two alternative prototypes, which are designed to clearly explain the final details of the loan and closing costs.

• November 1: Compliance Questions Regarding Garnishment Fees and Skip-A-Payment Fee Collection
  

  Compliance questions regarding the amount a credit union is allowed to charge for processing a garnishment and if federal credit unions can collect a fee (that would be donated to a local charity) from members who would like to participate in a skip-a-loan payment.

• November 1: NLRB Extends Deadline to Post Employee Notice
  

  The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has postponed the implementation date for its rule requiring the posting of a notice of the rights provided under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

• August 15: CUNA Mutual Group Advises CUs about Another Wave of ATM fee lawsuits
  

  Another rash of lawsuits continues to be filed against financial institutions for failing to properly disclose ATM fees. CUNA Mutual Group reminds credit unions simple preventative steps can help them avoid costly fines and legal fees.
