Kansas Credit Union Association (KCUA) Hall of Fame Award

This award is to give recognition to credit union people who have given outstanding lifetime service on behalf of Kansas credit unions. Kansas Credit Union Association board members can submit for consideration names of individuals who meet the criteria relating to credit union, affiliated organization (chapter), Association, national and volunteer activities. Induction into the Hall of Fame will take place at the KCUA Annual Convention.

To receive the Kansas Hall of Fame Award, the recipient must:

  • Have selflessly given time, effort and talent to help a member credit union and/or the betterment of the Kansas credit union movement.
  • Be in good standing in the community, understand the credit union philosophy, promote the credit union idea, and actively demonstrate loyalty to the entire organized credit union movement.
  • Have demonstrated organizational leadership, high professional standards, and technical innovations in delivering credit union service to members.

Henry Peterson Professional of the Year and John Michener Volunteer of the Year Awards

Each year the Kansas Credit Union Association honors two individuals for their dedication and effort given to the credit union movement in Kansas.  The Henry Peterson Professional of the Yearaward will be given to a credit union professional for their leadership and management abilities demonstrated for the betterment of credit unions in Kansas during the past year.

The John Michener Volunteer of the Yearaward will be given to a credit union volunteer for their contributions to the betterment of credit unions in Kansas during the past year.

Political Involvement Award

One of the most prestigious awards that the KCUA presents annually is our Political Involvement Award.   This award allows us the opportunity to recognize an individual for their extraordinary efforts in the political process on behalf of the credit union movement.  The winners of this award recognize the importance of political involvement to the credit union movement and have taken extraordinary action to get involved. 

We recognize individuals for their strong commitment to advancing the credit union movement politically through her efforts in both federal and state politics.  

They never hesitate to step forward and speak to legislators on behalf the credit union movement in Kansas.  Each of the winners is a shining example of how one passionate individual can make a meaningful impact for the credit union movement.

Kansas Cooperative Council Hall of Fame Award

The Kansas Cooperative Council Hall of Fame is important for recognizing the contributions of co-op pioneers and honoring those that have gone "above and beyond the call” in advancing the cooperative philosophy. The showcase display at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas also plays a significant role in educating others about the uniqueness of the cooperative business model by highlighting the achievements of our state’s great co-op leaders and preserving our co-op history.

Since it was established in 1999, thirty-one cooperators from all types of cooperatives have been inducted into the Kansas Cooperative Hall of Fame.
